At a function last night, Wellington High Performance Aquatics presented the 2016 Lloyd Morrison Aquatic Scholarships to local athletes, coaches and officials. WHiPA are delighted to announce that a 2016 WHiPA Lloyd Morrison Scholarship has been awarded to Wellington's Mary Fisher - Paralympic Swimmer, who has been selected to represent New Zealand in Rio 2016 in 5 pool events! Mary Fisher is a blind swimmer attending her second Paralympic Games in 2016. Mary Fisher's second gold leads New Zealand charge at IPC World Championships
Mary Fisher's second gold highlighted a four-medal haul as New Zealand's Para-swimming team continued a strong showing at the IPC World Championships in Glasgow, Scotland. New Zealand swimmers featured in four finals and came away with four medals on the third night, taking their total to eight on Thursday (NZ time). Congratulations to the recipients of the 2015 Wellington High Performance Aquatics Lloyd Morrison Aquatic Athlete Scholarships.
The scholarships, open to athletes and coaches in aquatic disciplines, are presented in memory of WHiPA founder, Wellington businessman Lloyd Morrison (1957 - 2012).
