WHiPA Presents 2016 Lloyd Morrison Aquatic Scholarships
At a function last night, Wellington High Performance Aquatics presented the 2016 Lloyd Morrison Aquatic Scholarships to local athletes, coaches and officials.
WHiPA were delighted to welcome several Wellington Councillors to the function, including mayoral candidates Justin Lester, Jo Coughlan and Nicola Young, along with Simon Marsh and Paul Eagle. The awards were presented by WHiPA Patron Kerry Prendergast.
Outstanding young Wellington swimmer, Chelsey Edwards, featured in the latest grants from Wellington High Performance Aquatics (WHiPA). Edwards, who has been chipping away at Rebecca Perrott’s Wellington age group records and represented New Zealand in Australia last summer, will benefit from the fund which was set up by the late Lloyd Morrison.
Other recipients included Rio-bound Olympic team members Emma Robinson (swimming) and Mary Fisher (para-swimming), world champion surf lifesavers, Samantha Lee and Steven Kent, national age group swimming champions, Ruby Heath and Rebecca Moynihan and members of the Lyall Bay Surf Club.
