Edwards' fast lane to swimming success
Teenage swimming sensation Chelsey Edwards is going places - and fast. The Upper Hutt 15-year-old has some important swim meetings and individual goals ahead of her in the next few months. First up are the New Zealand age-group champs in Wellington from March 21 while, a few weeks later, she will be at the Australian equivalent in Brisbane with a 22-strong Kiwi team. At a function last night, Wellington High Performance Aquatics presented the 2016 Lloyd Morrison Aquatic Scholarships to local athletes, coaches and officials. Chelsey Edwards is determined to break a national age-group swimming record. The Chilton Saint James year 10 is closing in on both the 14-year-old 100-metre and 200m freestyle records, with the national age-group championships, starting on April 18, shaping as he last chance to crack the times. The scholarships, open to athletes and coaches in aquatic disciplines, are presented in memory of WHiPA founder, Wellington businessman Lloyd Morrison (1957 - 2012).
