Thomas Watkins, 2017 WHiPA Lloyd Morrison Pathway to Podium Scholarship Recipient
Congratulations to Thomas Watkins, 2017 WHiPA Lloyd Morrison Pathway to Podium Scholarship Recipient. Thomas is a competitive swimmer from Capital Swim Club in Wellington, coached by Gary Hollywood. He has a love of backstroke and individual medley events. In the past 12 months he has won 2 national bronze medals and 5 national silver medals, as well as gaining selection as part of the Swimming New Zealand team, travelling to Australian Age Championships earlier this year. This year he is attending the Australian State Teams Age Group Championships with the New Zealand team, and will also travel overseas later in the year with the All Star zone Talent iD squad. In addition to the All Star Zone talent iD, he has have been selected into the National talent identification programme. The goal of the Pathway to Podium Programme (run by Sport Wellington) is to provide a platform from which performance athletes build knowledge and skills to better prepare them for high performance.
